This work is a collaboration between the Laboratoire Charles Coulomb in Montpellier, France and the Institut Néel in Grenoble, France. We investigated the two-dimensional ferromagnet CrTe2 with scanning NV microscopy and demonstrated that it remains ferromagnetic at room temperature down to a thickness of 20 nm, but with a reduced magnetization compared to bulk samples. It makes this material a promising candidate for spintronic applications.
